America, The Land of Milk & Honey………………………………………………..
In the early 1900’s my grandparents immigrated to the United States from Russia to escape the wars and religious persecution. Like so many others, they were told that the streets in America were paved in gold. They were and they still are. The gold they sought was freedom & opportunity. They worked hard to advance their way of life and enjoyed passing the rewards of that labor and sacrifice to their families. They took pride in their accomplishments. They cherished their new found freedom and the liberty to worship their God and openly disagree with their chosen leaders. As Voltaire once said “I hate what you are saying, but I will defend to the death your right to say it,” and they did. Throughout our history, millions of patriots, many not born here, gave their lives to preserve those unique American values. Those values, they passed on to my parents who in turn passed them on to my brothers and me. My children, like so many others, never got to know their grandfathers. It is now left to us teach the core values so that future generations will understand that all the wonderful things we take for granted are so fragile and precious.

Regardless of the problems and the heart aches that we are facing in this ever changing world, the United States has the most stable government on Earth. Some people refer to our democracy as the great American experiment. But, we are Americans and whether born hear or transplanted, two centuries of history has proven our resilience and fortitude. As Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg address “that nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and the government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this Earth.”

We truly are the land of milk and honey. Happy 234th birthday America………….. The following links are YouTube videos honoring America. I hope you enjoy them.

Autoclavable Lighted Mirror………………………………………………………………………………..

Henry Schein’s LED illuminated mirror is an autoclavable lighting unit for dental instruments. Lightweight and ergonomic, the mirror’s bright ,white LED (true-color) light provides illumination of the oral cavity and tooth structures. The complete Henry Schein LED illuminated mirror kit contains one handle with battery housing and cover, as well as two illumination mirror heads. Replacement illumination mirror heads are also available. The mirror kit is $79.99 (before any discount programs) and the replacement mirror heads are $69.99/4 pack. Once you have used a lighted mirror, you won’t want to work without it.

Single Tooth Anesthesia, A Practice Builder………………………………………………………………….
I have several offices that open at 6:00 AM because their patients want to have dentistry done before they go to work. Life in the our greater metropolitan area is moving faster every day and the average family is having difficulty in scheduling everything from the kid’s school & athletic activities to work to family time. Unfortunately, dentistry seems to be low on the priority list. It is important that we accommodate our patient base as much as possible. Blocking certain times for certain procedures can help, but what about Mr. or Ms. Smith that needs to catch the train at 7:30 AM and doesn’t get home until 7:00 PM? With today’s economic fears, he/she does not want to miss time at work to go to the dentist. An early schedule, one day a month, can accommodate those patients. Lunch time appointments are also very acceptable.

Q: Mr./Ms. Smith; “Doc, I have several conference calls and meetings, I can’t be numb.”

A: Doc; “No problem, we only numb the single tooth that needs treatment.”

I have personal experience with a STA Unit. I had a demo done with my daughter in the chair. Talk about walking into the lion’s den, however, I took the leap of faith. She had some minor issues after 3 years of ortho. After the injection, that she did not feel, we couldn’t determine if she was numb, so the doc gently began the procedure and low and behold, she felt nothing. After she left the office there was no feeling of numbness and she remarked that she never felt anything.

The down side to the STA system is that it is technique sensitive. The technique is very simple and requires a little more attention to the needle bevel and deflection. Mastering the technique requires trusting the computerized sensors. Remember how difficult it was for you to trust your first Apex Locator or the endodontic measurement tool provided by you Dexis Digital X-ray System? This is very much the same.

The STA System’s new technology delivers real-time visual and audible feedback, providing information on the exit pressure of the anesthetic and the type of tissue encountered. You know precisely where you are going and what needs to be done.

The STA System is an innovative, clinically-proven way to achieve more precise injections, improved drug delivery and higher patient comfort levels. Groundbreaking science-based technology makes it possible; the system is comprised of Milestone Scientific’s STA System featuring an ergonomic handpiece — a newly-patented technology. Whether you work in (click on links) pediatrics, cosmetics, endodontics or general dentistry, you’ll find the STA System works.

The STA Handpiece is engineered for an easier and more controlled fluid flow — and at greater volumes — resulting in the ability to provide pain-free, precise anesthetic delivery, regardless of required pressures.

Compared to traditional injection techniques that typically require anesthetizing an entire mandibular block, causing extensive collateral anesthesia, the STA System’s innovative Dynamic Pressure Sensing (DPS™) Technology lets you achieve immediate onset, deliver painless palatal injections and use fewer indications for multi-quadrant work — all with unparalleled levels of predictability, precision and performance. With this ability to work better and faster, you’ll ultimately become more productive and your patients will love it! Isn’t that what it is all about?

Visiting the Dentist for a clinical procedure means being uncomfortable for several hours after. Not being numb after the appointment is something that patients will talk about. Be different, think outside the box and you will separate yourself from the competition. Please contact me directly if you would like an in office demonstration of Milestone’s STA System. My cell phone # is 201-321-7494 and it is on 24/7.

The following Bill Cosby YouTube Comedy Video link says it all. I am sure that many of you have seen it, but it is worth another look. I hope it brings you a laugh.
