The reason we do what we do, is so that we can to do what we want to do, when we want to do it!

It’s a tongue twister, but working as a team and making informed decisions, will get us there.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity;

and I’m not sure about the universe.”
Albert Einstein

Scientists Grow Teeth From Stem Cells!

image001 Well, you know it was coming but it won’t be in your tool bag for quite a while. However, this is another sign of the changing role of dentistry within the healthcare system. The eyes may be the window to the sole, but the mouth is the doorway to the body. A total health philosophy is “Beyond the Mouth” and you and your staff need to engage today. It cost nothing but a little time and a commitment to change….

Scientists Grow Teeth from Stem Cells:

Written by Catharine Paddock PhD, Medical News Today

It may be some years before what has been achieved in the lab is available to patients sitting in the dentist’s chair. The researchers had to combine the human gum cells with a type of embryonic mouse cell to instruct the gum cells to make teeth. The next challenge is to find a human adult cell that can be coaxed to do the same.

Paul Sharpe, a professor at King’s College London, and colleagues, report their work in the 4 March online before print issue of the Journal of Dental Research.

With Implants, Loss of Jaw Bone Can Occur. With an implant, the lack of a natural root structure means eventually the friction from eating, and other jaw movements, cause loss of jaw bone around the implant.
A bioengineered “living” tooth would preserve the health of the surrounding tissue much better than an artificial implant, as Sharpe, an expert in craniofacial development and stem cell biology, explained in 2004, when he and his colleagues received a grant of £0.5m (about $0.8m) to develop a way to use stem cells to make a new tooth:

“Teeth are living, and they are able to respond to a person’s bite. They move and in doing so they maintain the health of the surrounding gums and teeth.”

Bioengineered Teeth:

Natural teeth start forming in the embryo from the interaction of two types of cell: epithelial cells, that make surface lining tissue such as of the skin and gums, and mesenchymal cells, that can develop into a range of different tissues, including bone and cartilage.

Aruba EZ Inventory Control Software……………………

image006This Week’s User’s Tip! – Chemical Based Inventory!

O.S.H.A. requires you to have a list of all products within your building that have a chemical composition. If an item is required to have an MSD Sheet, it is required to be on the Chemical Inventory List.

Aruba will automatically record any chemical based product that you have purchased through your Henry Schein account and create a printed list in alphabetical order.

Here is how it is done: Click on “file” in the upper left hand corner. Then click on “reports”. When the drop down bar appears, click on it and then on “Chemical Inventory Report”. Then you click on the PDF icon and the report will generate.

The Aruba inventory management system will save you time and money and reduce your inventory carrying costs. That results in increased cash flow. For more information on the “free” Aruba Inventory Management Software, please feel free to contact me at any time @ 201-321-7494 or

In today’s economic climate we all know that cosmetic dentistry is down. The Componeer system and technique for creating same day veneers can reduce the patient’s cost by as much as 50% with some of the cost possibly being covered by the patient’s dental insurance (codes will be provided).

Dr. Nash will take you through the process and explain in detail why this unique and innovative process is more advanced and out performs the old “Lumeneer Style” process and puts the dentist in control.

image005  New form required for new hires!

March 14, 2013 By Craig Palmer, ADA News staff

Washington—Dr. Douglas B. Torbush expects to hire a hygienist in June and is “very interested” in the new Form I-9 announced by the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. “I have not had to hire anyone in such a long time that I was somewhat at a loss when I found that the I-9 form is now required for all new hires,” he said.

Employers must use the new Form I-9 immediately for all new hires, said the USCIS March 8, 2013 Federal Register notice. Prior versions of Form I-9 can no longer be used effective May 7, 2013. Form I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.

Product Review – Chairside Componeer…………………..

COMPONEER Direct Composite Veneers

Of anterior teeth For innovative and astoundingly easy restoration.
COMPONEER is a new and easy-to-use system for restoring anterior teeth. COMPONEER are polymerised, prefabricated nano-hybrid-composite enamel shells that combine the advantages of direct composite restoration with the advantages of prefabricated veneers. In present practice the treating dentist could only chose between a directly modelled composite restoration or elaborate indirect veneer technology. The Direct Composite Veneer System adds a new and interesting dimension to existing treatment options and gives dentists and patients new economic perspectives. Patients can be given a naturally aesthetic smile in just a single session, and come away smiling – with a “smile to go”.

Movie application

To demonstrate the use of COMPONEER, we created a detailed clinical step-by-step video. It shows all relevant steps of the application workflow.

On Wednesday April 17, 2013 Dr. Ross Nash will be at Season’s in Washington Township, NJ presenting an all day session on the Componeer technique, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Dr. $199.00 / Staff $159.99 – Continental Breakfast, Catered Lunch, 7 CE’s

Final Thoughts for a Better World

From 3 Very Wise Men….

John F. Kennedy

“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

Ronald Reagan

“I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. I will go to the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and I will ask every member of my government to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment, and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in.”
