The reason we do what we do, is so that we can to do what we want to do, when we want to do it!

It’s a tongue twister, but working as a team and making informed decisions, will get us there.

What you don’t know about your practice will come back to bite you. As the business owner everything that happens under your umbrella is your responsibility and all too often the most critical issue, both clinically and regulatory are designated to a team member and never audited for accuracy or accountability.

Are you aware of all the new regulations that came along with the Affordable Care Act? Probably not. I am sure you heard about them but who in your office has the responsibility of compliance? The new HIPPA HITECH rules went into effect on September 23rd of this year and training is required for all team members. And how about the OSHA New HAZCOM laws or the HIPPA Omnibus Rule?

Who prepares your morning huddle? That is if you have a morning huddle. When I do a fee and production analysis for my clients discoveries are made that are very eye opening. Most of the inconsistencies we find should be can be addressed in the huddle but first you need to understand exactly what the huddle is or should be. A morning huddle is not just a review of who is coming in for what procedure, but it is a review of the days “battle plan”. When my dentist and his team review my chart in the morning huddle, not only are they looking at what I am having done that day, but they are discussing what transpired during my last visit. They are discussing my family and if any of those connections are overdue for a visit or have open treatment plans.

Maybe it’s time to invest in a competent team player to be your 2nd in command.  You need to know and understand that Who is on 1st, What’s on 2nd because I don’t Know is on 3rd.  Tomorrow is pitching to Today and you don’t want to strike out!                                                  Abbot & Costello  –  Who’s on First

When you are looking for ways to improve the systems in the office, you are looking for better efficiency, more consistency, and more effectiveness because you need to see results. I use all of the Dentrix eServices because they excel in all of these areas. My team runs a very tight ship because everything revolves around the practice management software; nothing is jimmy-rigged together. This is why I am very excited about this announcement from Dentrix and its new integration with Citi Health Card patient financing.  To read the rest of Dayan’s Blog, log onto: http://thedentrixofficemanager.blogspot.com/

The Importance of Leadership to Quality Service Delivery

Providing an outstanding customer service experience for our Guests is a foundational element of the Disney organization. The experiences, and more specifically, the resulting emotions from these experiences, are the reasons why Guests return to our parks, advocate on behalf of our brand, and even desire to work at Disney.

The impact of providing a truly exceptional customer service experience is a shining example of the ripple effect between service and leadership. However complete your overall service program is, your efforts will collapse if managers do not reinforce the right behaviors. All layers of leadership must support service and reinforce the right behaviors.

This Week in Dentistry from the ADA:

ADA Plan to Help Dentists Adjust!

image005    By Craig Palmer, ADA News staff writer

Research evaluating the state of the dental profession shows a lot is changing and will change in the coming years, but the ADA already has measures and programs in place to help dentists adapt and thrive in a new environment. An environmental scan of the dental care sector showed Americans are visiting the dentist less frequently and spending less money on their oral health. Dentistry has also recently experienced important structural changes that are unrelated to the economic downturn or slow recovery, and they’re ones that have been happening for years. The scan includes research from the ADA Health Policy Resources Center and Diringer and Associates, an independent consulting firm, and other experts asked to help the ADA Board of Trustees’ Strategic Planning Steering Committee develop a strategic plan for 2015-20, titled Members First 2020.
