Here is a little bit of trivia, when the N.Y. Yankees play a home game at Yankee Stadium at the end of the game they always play New York New York while the crowd is exiting. If they won, they play the Frank Sinatra version but if they lost, they play the Liza Minelli version. I have no opinion, I’m just saying.
Anyway, The Greater New York Dental Meeting opens on Sunday, November 29th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and runs through Wednesday, December 2nd. This is a show that you should not miss. The future of dentistry is evolving at an incredible rate of speed and you need to know how to plan the remainder of your career.
We all know that digital impression scanning is the current “hot” button in the industry. More and more systems are being introduced and some are pretty good. However, you need to do your due diligence and completely understand the pro’s and con’s as well as the time the systems have been on the market. The most important thing is to make sure that your selection has an open platform for future flexibility in integration of more technologies.
On the clinical side, this year marks the full introduction of “Bio-Active” dental materials. Bio-Active materials actually mimic tooth structure. I strongly recommend visiting the Pulpdent, Septodont and Doxa exhibits to learn more about this major clinical advancement in restoratives, cements and fillers.
Then there is PeriRX LLC (booth #1504). The Salimark OSCC Oral Cancer Salivary Diagnostic Test is the beginning of a new generation of systemic diagnostic tests that are designed for the dental office. Bio-markers within the saliva hold an incredible amount of systemic health information and warnings. This is the new world of total health and the interdisciplinary connection.
Your career also depends on your health. Ergonomics are important during a clinical procedure. The new LED overhead lights & loops/magnifiers as well as operatory seating are important and directly effect team production. Benjamin Franklin once said “pound wise, penny foolish”.
It is important that you keep your finger on the pulse your industry. Insurance reimbursements are being reduced but there are new procedure codes that can be utilized to maximize a patient total health coverage through medical insurance if not covered by dental.
Now ask yourself, would a dentist graduating today recognize your style of dentistry? I will be attending the show so please do not hesitate contacting me with any questions or concerns.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving! 🙂 …..
